    1. It increases your CTR

    The click-through-rate, or CTR, is the proportion of users who click on a link to the total number of users who view it.

    For example, if 100 people saw a link and 5 of them clicked on it, the CTR is 5%

    Got it? Nice.

    So, in a nutshell, your CTR increases when you write a compelling description that persuades the user to click your link, bringing in more visitors.

    Search engines love websites with excellent blog descriptions and a blog with a high CTR is always ranked higher.

    How to Add a Blog Description?

    Ok. It’s time to add a blog description now that we’ve learned what it is, why it’s important, and seen some examples.

    I assume most of you guys are using WordPress for your blog, so we’ll go with it.

    To easily write and edit your description, I recommend you to install YoastSEO (an amazing free SEO plugin).

    Once the installation is complete, we move to the next step.

    1. Click on the YoastSEO option from your WordPress dashboard
    2. From the YoastSEO’s menu, click on “search appearance”
    3. Scroll down (there you’ll see the “Homepage” title)

    A good blog description can boost your CTR and bring in more readers, whereas a bad one can do the opposite.

    That is why learning to write a good description is essential.

    Tip #1 – Include your main keyword

    What’s your blog about?

    What is the most important topic of your blog?

    To write the perfect description, you should first answer some of these questions to clarify your topic.

    After that, your next task will be to determine the main keyword on which you should focus your blog.

    For example, “travel” could be your primary topic, while “budget travel” could be your primary keyword.

    Tip #2 – Mention the benefits

    Readers want to know the advantages they’ll be getting from your blog before clicking on it.

    That is why it is such a good idea to always mention the reader’s benefit in your description.

    Using the previous example of “budget travel,” your blog description should state that it will “help the reader in traveling around the world at the lowest possible cost.”

    Tip #3 – Tell ’em what your blog is about

    Now, what exactly is a blog description? It is simply a summary of your blog. Right? Yes.
