Birthday

Recently I celebrated my birthday. I spent the afternoon with friends, family, pizza and ice cream cake. Thanks to all you guys who spent the day hangin’ with me… you guys rock!
Christian the Lion
Check out this video. Truly Amazing.
NO!!! It went up.

For those of you who are currently television shopping… I have bad news. The best deal on a mid-sized television just went up 50 bucks. Sometime during the past week, Walmart’s 32″ Vizio 1080p went from $497 to $547. Bummer.
Fake Leap Year
I recently found out that, although WordPress is a great program/tool, it cannot handle my silly mistakes.

In preparation for a busy weekend I had created enough posts by Thursday night that the posts “could” be scheduled through Sunday. However, when I scheduled the post for Sunday, I scheduled it for February 29th instead of March 1st. Mistake. When I went to check my page around noon on Sunday, I noticed that my post was not up.
So… I logged in to WordPress, and found that it had posted on November 30th, 1999. Weird.
So… I went back to theblogguy.com, only to find at the bottom of my page that it had posted on December 31st, 1969. Weirder.
Since then I have decided that I will be taking “weekends off” from posting (not because of the confusion, just to take a break) but I still plan to hopefully post M-F.
It seems that WordPress just can’t handle a Fake Leap Year.
I scream, You scream

Here are a few facts for you:
- The first frozen dessert is credited to Nero (Nero was Emperor of Rome from A.D. 54-68).
- The United States is the top ice cream consumption country in the world. Yeah, we sure love our ice cream.
- Vanilla is the most preferred flavor, preferred by 29% of people. It’s closest competitor, chocolate, is preferred by only 8.9%.
- According to 1997 supermarket sales, ice cream is America’s second favorite dessert. Shoppers spent a whopping $3.6 billion on cookies, while only spending $2.3 billion on ice cream. Only $2.3 billion.
- Each American consumes an average of 23.2 quarts of ice cream and other commercially produced frozen dairy products per year. Wow… 23.2 quarts, that’s 5.8 Gallons!
- More ice cream is sold on Sunday than any other day of the week. Remember the Sabbath. Keep it Holy. And eat IceCream.
- July is National Ice Cream Month.
- Children ages 2-12, and adults age 45 and over, consume the most ice cream per person. You guys rock.
- The average number of licks to polish off a single scoop ice cream cone is approximately 50. If 50 licks proves to be too much, just eat it… that only takes about 5 bites.
- 98 percent of all households purchase ice cream. Who’s the 2% that doesn’t like IceCream?
- Orange and vanilla swirl is the greatest ice cream flavor EVER!
If I have any of these facts wrong, blame MakeIceCream.com. All words in italics are mine, if they are wrong, blame me.
Now that you’re craving a luscious bowl of ice cream, go to your neighborhood grocery, throw down a couple bucks on some ice cream, chill with your family/spouse/significant other/dog/pet orangutan/or just the television, and enjoy yourself tonight. See if you can eat your 5.8 gallons all in one sitting.
Phobia

Do you suffer from Aurophobia? Or maybe it’s Aulophobia. Perhaps you’re a Barophobic? Maybe it’s Gnosiophobia.
What are each of these phobias?
- Aurophobia -Fear of the element Au… (Gold).
- Aulophobia - Fear of flutes.
- Barophobia - Fear of the one thing keeping you on earth (Gravity).
- Gnosiophobia - Fear of knowledge.
While these four fears may seem silly, the truth is that millions of people struggle with fear every single day. The good news is, for those who trust in Christ, there is nothing to fear, aside from God. (If you have not trusted in Christ yet, please check out this link → becoming a Christian)
The Psalmist David writes, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

You Are Not Pharaoh’s Slave
Over the past week I happened to come in contact with this story from the Exodus on two separate occasions, and therefore I want to share it with you. I believe that not only is the story very interesting, but it also has some great lessons to teach us.
4. But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people away from their work? Get back to your burdens.” 5. And Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens!” 6. The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their foremen, 7. “You shall no longer give the people straw to make bricks, as in the past; let them go and gather straw for themselves. 8. But the number of bricks that they made in the past you shall impose on them, you shall by no means reduce it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifice to our God.’ 9. Let heavier work be laid on the men that they may labor at it and pay no regard to lying words.” - Exodus 5:4-9 (ESV)

You see… the Pharaoh was a smart man, and Pharaoh knew that by keeping the Israelites busy they would have no time to even think about giving God the time/glory/worship He deserves. Similar to the Pharaoh, Satan is also very smart, and often times I believe he tries to get us so busy that we too forget about giving God the time/glory/worship He deserves. What is the “straw” in your own life? For the Israelites it was literally straw, but for you it may be anything (i.e. work, hobbies, money, etc). What is keeping you from giving God the time/glory/worship He deserves? The difference between you and the Israelites is that you are not a slave, and therefore you have the choice to let the “straw” go. Are you willing to let the unnecessary go in order to give God the time/glory/worship He deserves from you?
Shopping Cart Hero

A day or two ago during my internet surfing routine I came across one of the most easy to play, yet fun games on the web. The game is called Shopping Cart Hero. The game is very simple (having only 4 controls: up.down.left.right) but it is quite addicting. In the game you “soup up” a shopping cart in effort to jump the cart higher and farther than ever before. I found myself playing for quite a while, and my highest score was 4414.5.
Here is a link to the game → Shopping Cart Hero. If you also find yourself addicted to the game, please come back and post your high score. If you hate the game feel free to leave that as a reply too.
1 in 8 WINS!

Better technology = more convenience. Right?
Gone are the days of 1 in 8 wins a free coke. Now there’s a process… in order to obtain a free coke you must:
1. Collect 8 Coke brand bottle caps.
2. Go to mycokerewards.com
3. Create an account.
4. Type in the 12-digit, alphanumeric code located inside all 8 caps.
5. Click the link, “EARN a free 20 oz. coupon” (notice it says EARN, not WIN).
6. Verify the address you want the coupon shipped to.
7. Wait 2-4 weeks for the coupon to arrive in the mail.
8. Take the coupon to the store to redeem your ‘free’ Coke.
Generally, advancing technology does mean more convenience, but I sure miss the ‘good ole days’ when the process was:
1. Go to the store and buy a coke.
2. If the lid says WINNER… go back, show the cashier, get a free coke.
But hey, the plastic bottle is half-full here folks… at least you can still get a free coke!
